With Adani Foundation and sarpanch’s help, he now earns Rs 8k-10k pm
Known for his driving prowess once, Mahadev Jethagar Gunsai or Bawaji –as he was known in his village Nana Zarpara village – found himself in a helpless situation after he lost one leg due to an injury in an accident. The infection caused gangrene and he was forced to get it surgically removed.
Being a truck driver, he had travelled almost all parts of the country. But his disability restricted his movement and his driving skills became a thing of the past. He had lost all hope and become miserable when his village sarpanch Shamalbhai and the Adani Foundation lend him a helping hand. It gave him mental support and motivated him to get behind the wheel once again.
The Adani Foundation gave him a tricycle and a pair of shoes to make his riding easier. He was also provided with an ST pass and a disability certificate. Initially, he took his nephew’s help while riding the tricycle but gradually began using it himself after he decided to visit Mundra, Zarpara, Bhujpura and other villages for his livelihood.
He now earns a monthly income of Rs 8,000-10,000 and helps his brother and sons. He is grateful for the help provided by the Adani Foundation that has made a disabled person like him self-sufficient.
